So my birthday came and went. Thank you for all the birthday greetings! It's great to finally be done with my teenage years. biggrin Haha! It's been one hell of a ride. Some people say that your teenage years are supposed to be the best years of your life, but I don't really belive that. From the time I was 13-14 and up until a couple of years ago I really struggled to find my place in this world. I tried to figure out who I was, and that was tiresome. cool But I guess it was all worth it, because I feel pretty confident now. I have high expectations for my twenties!

My birthday itself was a rather calm affair. I didn't have a party or anything, just a quiet gathering with my mom, my sister and one of my friends. It was nice. We just ate pizza and cake, and talked a lot. cute I'm not really one for big birthday bashes. It's too much trouble to arrange. Sure, I'll go if it's someone else's party, but the last time I had a birthday party was when I turned 10. As usual I got plenty of cash, and very little other stuff. I prefer to choose what I want myself. My friend Heidi gave me a cute hairband and Full Moon wo Sagashite vol. 5 (YAY! Takuto heart), though.

Today I was supposed to go to Oslo and spend some of my birthday money. Well, that didn't happen. When I woke up, the rain was pouring down, and the ten minute walk to the bus stop didn't sound tempting at all. dead So I postponed it. I'll go sometime later this week. I absolutely hate rainy days. Gets me all depressed and shit. Oh well. Maybe I'll go tomorrow if the weather is better then. But I was planning to go to the hairdresser tomorrow... My hair is desperately in need of some fixing. The summer has taken it's toll on my tresses. yuck Split ends are not a pretty sight. I'm getting pretty sick of my long hair, so I think I'll cut it quite a bit. Nothing too drastic, though, just shoulder length or something. And I'll dye it darker again. I have a feeling I look better with dark hair anyway.

Now for the bad news, at least for me. I was all excited about the trip to Florida last week, but suddenly I remembered something really important. The date for the trip clashes with exam week. grumpy And if I don't take those exams, I won't be able to go to university next fall! Damn, that sucks! So there's a pretty good possibility that I won't be able to go to Florida after all! I'm currently trying to work my way around it, so we'll see what happens. laidback There's still a slight possibility I might be able to go! I really hope so! I'm crossing my fingers here!

In my family there's a tradition. Every time someone turns 50, the adults take a trip to some foreign country. My sister and I have never been allowed to go on those trips because of our age, but finally it's our turn! cute In May 2007 it's my aunt's turn to hit the big 5-0, and the destination has been set. And we're going to spend 10 days in.. Florida! I've never been to the USA before, so it's gonna be one heck of an experience. I don't really know much about Florida though, except from that it's hot and that there's alligators there (thanks to Animal Planet)! upsidedown Sounds fun! Bring on them gators!

We're gonna rent an huge villa near Disney World! The place has 5 bedrooms, two living-rooms, a huge yard and a private swimming pool! heart I can't wait! Turns out that's cheaper than staying at a hotel, so all the grown-ups are congratulation themselves with the smart move 24/7. Haha! Gotta love the family! The only thing that sucks with the whole trip is that I don't turn 21 until August, so I can't drink anything! vodka Stupid alcohol laws! I finally turn 20 and are allowed to drink anything in Norway, but then they decide to go to the US (which I've wanted to see practically my whole life) 3 months before my 21st birthday! Bummer! Oh well, I guess there's a lot of other fun things to do.. I suppose don't have to get wasted while I'm there anyway!

But spring is still far away, so for now I'll let the daydreams about Florida go. Truth to be told I haven't really got time to think about it that much. I'm repeating some high school subjects (yup, I was a lazy one..) to improve my grades, and boy have I forgotten stuff! dead Currently I'm deeply engaged in my World History After 1850 book.. Damn, that is some difficult shit! But parts of it are pretty interesting! I have no idea how I'm gonna do on the future oral exam, though! The damn subject is combined with Norwegian History After 1850, and the two books together makes about 600 pages! yawn And in addition to those I also have to take some other subjects... I'm starting to realize that I'm not gonna have much of a social life for the next 10 months..

On the bright side my birthday is only 6 days away! My birthday is sorta my highlight of the year, due to the amount of cash I recieve from well-meaning relatives. biggrin I've been told that I'm hard to buy presents for, so my family always give me money instead. Not that I mind! I like being able to buy whatever I want at the time! And the stores are filling up with the autumn garments, so I'm gonna have a blast shopping after the 23rd!
